Authorities in a small Texas town are investigating the death of a horse that was spotted on the side of the road over Thanksgiving.
The Waller County Sheriff’s Office responded to a citizen’s call about a dead horse laying near the road around 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Hempstead, over 100 miles east of Austin.
The horse was shot in the head, had its legs bound with a rope and dragged onto the side of the road, according to a Facebook post by the Sheriff’s Office.
The Livestock Division is currently investigating any and all leads, encouraging the public to call the division if they have any information about the person or people who committed the crime.
“If you saw any type of truck pulling a trailer or horse trailer around that time and or have any additional information, please call our Livestock Division at (979)-826-8282 Option 1 or if you wish to remain anonymous contact CRIME-STOPPERS at (979)-826-8266,” the post stated.
